What inspired you to found Becker Wright Consultants?
I am a lover of humanity! Recruiting is the ultimate puzzle that demands intuitiveness, determination, negotiating skills, sales, and empathy. I love every second of initial conversations with both candidates and clients and truly listening to their needs and wants for their next career move or for their open position.
What sets you apart from other recruiting and staffing firms?
We truly listen and want to not only be an extension of the client, but aim to find the best fit for our candidates. There have been multiple times that we have actually pulled offers because we weren’t feeling the fit during the process. In all my years in this industry, I don’t know many other firms that would do that. We reject more candidates than we accept based on what we know of the client’s needs, as well as the best career move for our candidates. Finally, we pride ourselves on submitting at least two interviewable candidates within the first 7-10 business days of a search.
What has changed since you founded the company twenty years ago?
Well, Linkedin, Indeed, and other major recruiting platforms didn’t exist. There are some amazing efficiencies with those tools especially in sourcing; however, we still train our team of recruiters how to pick up the phones, talk to people, and understand how we can help. A major change internal to BWC has been adding an entire division dedicated to Temporary Staffing in 2016. Supplemental to our direct placement recruitment team, they focus on manufacturing, production, engineering, life sciences, technology, and professional services staffing. We have been ranked on ABJ’s Top Contingent Search Firms list for eight consecutive years and their Top Temporary Staffing Firms list for six.
What are the future plans for BWC?
We will continue to expand into new verticals that have a demand for our services. We have grown due to our clients’ requests to support other departments within their organization. We have become experts in multiple fields and create teams around these demands. We will also continue to hire strong in-house recruiters to join our amazing team. BWC has a handful of recruiters that have been here for over 15 years! Finally, I would love to expand our network with other firms within the recruiting industry, as well as explore training in-house talent acquisition teams that are seeking a different style.
